Feathering My Nest with Candles

by Monica on September 21, 2009

thingsIloveThursdayWith the changing of each season, I change our home in various little ways. One way that I start out each season is by changing the sent of our home.

I love candles.

I love how warm and inviting they make my home feel.

I love the soothing scents that they bring.

I began to appreciate candles during the last year when Keith was away and I just needed a moment to take a breath and relax. Breathing in a fresh scent from a candle lit on my counter helped to relieve stress and give me a fresh outlook if just for a small moment.

My favorite types of scented candles seem to be food related in some kind of way. For the Christmas season, I like the smell of peppermint, for spring I like the smell of strawberries and cupcakes, for summer I like melons and citrus scents, but my favorite scents come from the Fall season.

I love the smells that autumn brings.

The scent of fresh picked apples, of cinnamon, and of spices.

The scent that I have been drawn to more than any other this fall season comes from my new Vanilla Pumpkin Yankee Candle. I have lit it every single day for at least the last week.

I have it burning as I clean and work in the kitchen and it is getting me and my home ready for the fall season.

This fall I am beginning the seasonal change in our home with the lighting of a new, favorite candle. How are you preparing your home for autumn and all of the changes it brings with it?

Share with us during this week’s Fall Festival by linking up at Hoosier Homemade and you’ll also be entered to win a set of three adorable pumpkins to help with your new fall look!

I’m also linking up to Things I Love Thursday, because, as I said….I love these! Visit The Diaper Diaries to see more things to love!

I love candles too but Hubby hates them. I hadn’t thought of just burning them when I am home during the day to enjoy them before he gets home! I always try to save them for a special occasion and they get all melty and nasty before I ever use them!

I love candles too! They just set the tone, don’t they? I wrote about them in my post today also. We have very similar taste in scents. I don’t care for strong florals but love all the fall scents, the cinnamon or peppermint at Christmas, and fruits and other fresh clean scents for the spring/summer. After thinking about it last night while writing my post and then reading yours, I really want to run out and get my new fall stash of candles now, LOL.

I just love scented candles this time of year but prefer one without paraffin or chemicals. I decorate my entire home and porches with them to really set the mood for fall and upcoming holidays.

I also love burning candles, particularly in the Fall. They just make me feel cozy and happy. My favorite is Slatkin and C0′s Pumpkin Patch (from Bath & Body Works). The scent is so amazing, and I never get tired of it! I bought 5 of them right after they came out this Fall! The Yankee Candle scent you mentioned sounds amazing too!

I love candles. Especially apple, pumpkin, vanilla, cinnamon type candles. It smells like something baking in the oven.

And they’re so pretty throughout the house.

Thanks for sharing today!

I love candles. And I’d burn them all the time if I could, but I just can’t afford to buy them. It’s gay that they’re so expensive.
