As an introvert, one of the best ways I can take care of myself is to get out of the house for some quiet reading time.
Getting out and away from the demands of home can really build into my soul.
To have a quiet place to let the words of a book soak into my thoughts is invaluable to me.
On Saturday, my daughter and I went out to the Farmer’s Market in downtown Leavenworth. While there we also walked through some of the quaint little downtown shops.
Kansas Country Store and Loafing Shed Gifts and Coffee was one of those shops.
The owner of this shop and his wife were so very friendly and hospitable. There is a help yourself coffee shop with desserts available here.
As I was speaking to the owner’s wife about the coffee shop, she told me she wanted it to be spot where people can get away to read and have some quiet, especially moms. She also invited me to come back today because my household goods are being delivered tomorrow and the rest of my week will be crazy town!
I took her up on this offer and went there to read this afternoon.
This was such a treat for me!!!
I was able to sit in a corner and read quietly while sipping a cup of cocoa (that only cost a dollar!). I know already that this spot will be a favorite of mine over the next year.
Do you have a favorite spot for reading?
I challenge you to find one if you don’t, especially if this is something that nourishes your soul!
