So, I’m doing something new with my “5 on Friday” posts beginning today. I’ll post my fives in five categories…”Read, Watch, Listen, Follow, and Learn”. I got this idea from a new podcast that I’m listening to these days that I’ll be sharing under “listen”.
Read
Will and I are reading Understood Betsy in homeschool and I’m really enjoying it. It’s not a book I would probably have normally picked up for him since the main character is a girl, but it was included in his curriculum and it’s a really good read for him. The main character is named Elizabeth Anne and he is tickled by that because that’s his older sister’s name.
We’re only about half-way through right now, but the little girl in the story has been pretty sheltered all of her life by the well meaning aunts that she lives with, but is pretty much forced to start thinking independently when she suddenly has to move in with another family that lives out in the country.
Watch
Now that Parenthood has ended, and I’m watching Grey’s week by week, I had to search for a new show to watch while I work out. I tried the first episode of Gilmore Girls and enjoyed it, but I needed a bit more drama. I need to work out to something a bit more intense and Scandal definitely fits the bill on that one! I’m just three episodes into the first season and I’m hooked!
Listen
I love listening to podcasts! Actually, I listen to podcasts more than I listen to music. So, at least for the next a lot of weeks, I’ll probably be sharing some of my favorites to listen to in this section.
My most recent favorite is Around the Table hosted by blogger Jacey Verdicchio of The Balanced Wife and nutritionist chef Maggie McDaris of The Spread. They both currently live in Charleston, SC, which is so close to my hometown. It’s fun to listen to them talk about Charleston because everything is so familiar. I love listening because they’re just two friends sharing life and enjoying doing that together. They talk about food, intentional living, hospitality and the ups and downs of life. I would highly encourage you to check it out!
Also…do any of you have any good music recommendations for me?
Follow
I’m so excited to share ShutterBean, a new (to me) blog that I am enjoying so very much!!! She was actually interviewed on another podcast that I listen to this week and I had to immediately check out her beautiful blog!!! Seriously, her photography is amazing and you simply must follow her on instagram (@tracyshutterbean)!! She has several regular features on her blog that I love, such as I Love Lists, Friday!, And I Quote, and My Everyday Life.
Learn
Did you know that I do all of the design work at DailyDwelling? I do and I love it!!!
Free WordPress Google Fonts Plugin: Easy Google Fonts from Titanium Themes on Vimeo.
This week I’ve been playing around with changing the fonts and I found this amazing and yes, reliable, plugin that allows you to make font changes without getting into coding (too much). It’s called Easy Google Fonts and it was very easy to use. The video above is an excellent tutorial that I used to fully learn all of the functionality of this plugin.
Okay, that’s it for today! Thanks for joining me as I share some of my favorites from the week!
I would love for you to comment blog with some of your own favorites from the read, watch, listen, follow and learn categories.
