I had a great week! With our move approaching quickly, my schedule has been packed with preparing for packing and getting together with friends as much as I can.
It seems that I have some sort of event planned every day for the next two weeks. As an introvert, it’s a bit exhausting, but so very worth it to enjoy time with my friends before we head out for Kansas City.
I have some fun favorites to share with you today!!!
Sorta Awesome is a new podcast that I am enjoying to much!!! It is hosted by Megan Tietz along with rotating co-hosts, Laura of Hollywood Housewife, Rebekah of Simply Rebekah, and Kelly of Love Well Blog. On each podcast, these ladies share an “awesome of the week”, chat, and answer listener questions. Along with listening to the podcast, I’m also enjoying being involved in the Sorta Awesome Hangout, which is a Facebook Group for the podcast.
If you enjoy listening to podcasts, I highly recommend that you add this one to your repertoire.
Keith and I have both enjoyed exploring the world of Periscope this week. Periscope is an app that allows you to broadcast live from you phone.
What is Periscope? Here’s a great description from Periscope’s about page:
Just over a year ago, we became fascinated by the idea of discovering the world through someone else’s eyes. What if you could see through the eyes of a protester in Ukraine? Or watch the sunrise from a hot air balloon in Cappadocia? It may sound crazy, but we wanted to build the closest thing to teleportation. While there are many ways to discover events and places, we realized there is no better way to experience a place right now than through live video. A picture may be worth a thousand words, but live video can take you someplace and show you around.
It is so fascinating to watch the world through someone else’s eyes in the form of video!
Periscope is run through twitter. I’ve enjoyed watching Periscope broadcasts from Paris, LA and Disneyland this week.
I believe that the best way to get the most benefit from any social media outlet is to jump in and get involved, so I have even had some live broadcasts myself. You can follow me on Periscope @dailydwelling! I must warn you, though, it is very addictive!
I have found a new genre of vlogs on YouTube called “family vlogs” and I am having a blast watching them! One of my favorites is JHouse Vlogs. They are a homeschooling family with four children who vlogs their daily life. You should check them out!
My girls received their first Military ID cards this week! In the military, children are required to have a military ID at ten years old. Here they are signing their names to their first official documents. I discovered that we need to cover “how to sign your name in a small rectangle” in homeschool next year!
It is always such a gift to find beauty in the middle of the desert, but it is there to be found. That is a lesson that I will take with me from our time in El Paso. I had to snap this picture when I saw a beautiful yellow flower with a honey bee on it in the middle of a desert cactus this week.
There is beauty to be found in our everyday…we just need to look for it and cherish it when it’s found!
