Hello friends!!!
Last week seemed to be a bit off for me. I think it was because I slept later than I should each morning and didn’t get the best start to my days. I determined over the weekend that I was going to make a change this week and so, far, so good! It’s only Monday, but I am excited for this week and what it’s going to bring.
But, first….I want to celebrate a few things from the weekend…
My oldest daughter loves to cook and help out in the kitchen. She received a Williams Sonoma Kids Cookbook for Christmas, so I’ve been letting her choose one recipe each week and prepare our dinner. She chose Turkey Burger sliders for last Friday night’s dinner and they were so good!!!
I’m trying to take some steps towards taking care of me and my body, especially through eating better and exercising regularly. On Saturday I made my first ever green smoothie. I’ve always shied away from them because they just sounded so…ick! I had read and heard that you didn’t taste the greens in them, but I just couldn’t convince myself to try it. On Saturday I bought a mix of spinach and kale prewashed and bagged for Smoothies, so I decided to give it a try.
And, you know what…it tasted just like my regular fruit smoothies! I didn’t taste the greens as all. I don’t have the highest quality blender, but I was very happy with how my first green smoothie turned out and I’m planning to have them regularly now.
If you’re interested in the recipe for this smoothie…I used 1 cup of almond milk, 1 banana, several chunks of fresh pineapple, a handful of spinach/kale mix, a small handful of frozen strawberries, and some ice.
We played Smash Brothers on the Wii U as a family before dinner last night. This has become a great family activity that we all enjoy! And…I totally rocked it!!! 🙂
And now let’s welcome the new week…
I got up early and had a great morning! I was able to read my Bible and exercise before my kids started waking up AND I even had time to enjoy a second cup of coffee while doing my hair and make-up. I think I enjoy my second cup of coffee so much more than the first. The first is necessary to get going. But, the second means I’m enjoying the morning and taking the time to savor it a bit. I usually have flavored coffee in my second cup and drink it just a little slower. I rarely have a third cup unless I’m really dragging in the afternoon.
I’m going to start a photo project where I take a picture of the morning sky each Monday morning and share them on these Hello Morning posts!
I don’t think there’s a better way to welcome the week than by gazing at God’s masterful artwork in the morning sky.
There’s so much that I’m looking forward to this week. This week I’m saying hello to…
…a full week of homeschool
…playdates with friends
…using a gift card for our AWANA date on Wednesday
…entering into a mentorship program at church with some older ladies
…reading lessons with Jenny
…read-aloud time on the couch
…looking for God’s good gifts
…and so much more!
Every good and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.
James 1:17
What are you saying hello to on this bright new Monday morning?
