One lesson that the Lord has to consistently work on with me is that of contentment.
My selfish heart seems to want more and more and often times, I fail to see the blessings that are right in front of my face.
I look forward to the day when I can say with confidence that I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances.
I look forward to saying as Paul did in Philippians,
…I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.
Philippians 4:12
The Lord has been so faithful to me throughout my life.
He has blessed me beyond measure.
In every circumstance, I can see His hand at work.
Being blessed by God, being His child, doesn’t mean that we won’t suffer in this life.
In fact, it means the exact opposite.
We WILL suffer.
We WILL face difficulties.
We WILL be in need.
And we CAN find contentment in every circumstance…in the suffering, in the difficulties, and when we are in need.
The secret of contentment is reliance on the Lord and his provision for our lives.
This is lesson that I am learning more and more every day as I seek God’s face, read His Word, and listen to His Spirit speaking to my heart.
