Several weeks before his birthday this year, my husband called me out of the blue and asked if I thought he was too old to learn to long board.
I answered, “of course not!”
I don’t believe anyone is too old to learn to do something new, exciting and fun.
So…guess what Keith got from me for his birthday this year???
That’s right!
I took a risk and got him a long board and I was surprised at how much he has enjoyed it!
We went to the park on the morning of his birthday so he could practice with it. Then we left on our trip and were gone for two weeks.
He couldn’t wait to ride again after we returned home, so he took MC out skateboarding on Saturday morning.
The two of them had a blast.
I’m fairly certain Keith has plans to longboard every day of this upcoming holiday weekend.
I’m so thankful I could encourage him with this gift.
It’s more than just a longboard…it’s permission to enjoy life, to live out his passions, and to always be willing to try new things.
I did this layout for the speed scrap challenge at The Lilypad. The instructions for scrapping were given out every ten minutes (or so) during a chat. We then had one hour to complete the page per the given instructions and post it in the gallery.
Here were the instructions we were given:
1) 11:00 – Select one picture and crop it into a rectangular shape. Place it in the top right quadrant of the page.
2) 11:10 – For your background, use a neutral paper layered on top of a patterned paper.
3) 11:20 – Create a cascade of different sized circles going down the page using various papers. these can be layered on top of each other or not and can go under or over the picture (if you want – they do not have to touch the picture).
4) 11:30 – Add some paper strips/scallops/etc to the top of the page and also under/around the picture.
5) 11:40 – Add some elements – any and all you want – but you MUST include a ribbon or string, stitching and some paint.
6) 11:50 – Add a title at the bottom of the page using two or more alphas. Add some journaling wherever you want
This was such a fun challenge! I believe it’s the first speed scrap challenge that I’ve completed and I’m looking forward to my next.
