We’re all suffering from colds this week. Isn’t it amazing how a small cold can make you feel so terrible! We’re not sick enough to warrant a visit to the doctor or even a sick day from school, but the coughing, sneezing, and stuffy noses can really bring a homeschool day down.
Yesterday we were really dragging before lunch. At lunch it didn’t look like we would have a chance of finishing up our school day before we had to leave for AWANA last night. We had so much left to accomplish!
When my husband called I told him that it felt as if I had been pulling teeth all. day. long.
And then he suggested something totally contrary from the way I was handling our struggling day.
He suggested that I take everyone out to the park for recess.
I thought I would give it a try, after all it couldn’t hurt and I was desperate!
We only stayed at the park for about fifteen minutes, but that small break totally rejuvenated the rest of our homeschool day.
Running around the park and throwing some basketballs around got our blood moving and gave us energy to go back home and work hard.
My husband was exactly right in his suggestion! I am so thankful for his listening ears and helpful advice.
A recess break was exactly what our homeschool day needed!
Do you take “recess” breaks in your school day?
What do you do when you need some rejuvenation for a day that is dragging slowly on?
