When my husband was deployed to Iraq the first time I wanted to give him something special for Father’s Day.
Our twin girls were just over a year old and I thought that having pictures made of the girls and I would be perfect gift for him.
I completely underestimated how hard that task would be!
My girls were all. over. the. place!
They were just learning to walk and thought the portrait studio was just the place to practice their new found skills.
I spent my time chasing down two precious little girls and changing their outfits to prepare them for more shots and we ended up with this “perfect picture”.
Even though I left the studio that day completely exhausted, I was enormously proud to send those photos to my husband.
When I look back on all of those pictures that were made that day, I don’t see the mistakes, the arms reaching out for mommy, the little legs squirming to get away. No….when I look back on those pictures, I see a memory of a special time with my girls as we waited on my husband’s return from Iraq.
Shortly after these pictures were taken, I scrapbooked a page about our experience. It was one of my first digital scrapbook pages.
Last week, I participated in a challenge to re-do a previous layout and this is the one I chose.
Here’s my updated layout…
This page better suits my scrapbooking style as it has developed over the years.
I feel like this page better conveys the memory of that day and my joy of sending this gift to my husband rather than just the pure exhaustion of a trying day.

great re-do Monica. Sometimes its good to get things documented right away, and sometimes better to reflect. Its precious either way.
