This weekend hasn’t seemed like a weekend at all. We spent the weekend doing exactly what we’ve been doing all week…unpacking boxes…lots and lots of boxes!
We are finally starting to see a light at the end of the tunnel, though, and that feels incredibly good!
Kansas feels so much colder than El Paso, TX!!! We’re all walking around the house in jackets. I don’t even want to think about what the winter is going to do to us!
My reward to myself for finishing unpacking and organizing the kitchen was to get my computer up and running. This was a happy moment!!
I ventured out to the Commissary on post for my first weekly grocery shopping trip yesterday morning. Shopping at the Commissary is definitely a unique experience. Since living off-post for the last several years, I’ve done very little shopping at the Commissary. I’m looking forward to fully embracing the Army culture here at Leavenworth, so I’ll be a regular for the next year.
My bedroom is my favorite room in our house here. It was also the first room to be completely unpacked and set-up (except for curtains). Oh, and please excuse the uneven sheets…I’m embracing being “perfectly imperfect” as well.
My sister-in-law so graciously sent us a South Carolina flag to proudly hang along with our American flag on the front of our house. Another unique feature of living on-post is that the street is almost completely lined with homes showing off their love for their country and home state.
Keith found his old Play Station 2 while unpacking the basement and had fun playing a game this evening. It’s nice to relax after a hard day of work! And, believe me, he has been working hard!
Hurray for empty boxes waiting to be picked up with bulk trash tomorrow morning!!! We’ve taken several loads to the recycling center on post and given away some to neighbors who are moving on to their next duty station.
This is a huge symbol of progress being made!
How was your weekend? What moments made it special?
