I went to a wedding shower last week for a chaplain’s assistant on post.
This is the card I made for the happy couple!
I am so happy with how this hybrid card came out.
I used the Everyday Life kit by Gina Marie Huff of Weeds & Wildflowers design.
The flowers in this kit were perfect for the heart cluster that I had in mind.
To make the cluster, first I used the shape tool in PSE to made a heart shape the approximate size that I wanted it.
Then I started pulling the blue, green, and white flowers on top of that shape, overlapping them as I went and trying to make sure that two of the same colors didn’t touch.
When I got stuck in that endeavor, I decided to pull in the pink flower for added “pop”.
Here’s a better image of what the front of the card looks like:
To make personalized cards in Elements, open a new document (Ctrl + N) the size of the card. I usually make 8.5 x 5.5 cards (full size).
Then open another new document to design the front of the card (Ctrl + N). The front of the card would be sized 4.25 x 5.5 (half of the full card’s length and the same width).
When you’re satisfied with the design for the front of the card, merge all of the layers (Ctrl + E) and drag and drop it onto the full-sized card.
Print the full-sized card and trim the edges.
If you’re feeling really crafty, add ribbon or button embellishments to the card.
I had lots of fun at this wedding shower.
This was the first wedding shower I’ve been to where games were played.
I have to share the story of how I won the “purse game” with you.
For the purse game, we tallied up the contents of our purses and were awarded points for having certain items (stick of gum, pens, etc.).
I don’t carry a large purse and what’s inside is pretty bare bones, so I knew I didn’t have much hope of winning.
That is, until I saw the bonus section. There were 50 bonus points given for having a flash drive.
And guess what…I did!!!
Yes, I had a flash drive that was a part of the swag given at Blissdom 2010.
And, yes, it has been hanging out in my purse for the past year and a half.
Because of that, I won the game!!!
The prize was a Vera Bradley coin purse…SCORE!!!

That’s a very fun-sounding shower game…very “Let’s Make A Deal”-ish! I recently attended a shower where instead of games, we made crafts. I actually re-read your post, thinking that your card was a craft at the shower, but that would be kind of strange making cards for the bride-to-be while attending her event…anyway…the crafts we made at a baby shower were baby girl headbands, and those who didn’t have baby girls just made them and gave them to the mother to be.
The card you made is extraordinary. I hope the bride displays it somewhere or at least keeps it in a treasure box!
I found you through Works for Me Wednesday; please come visit me when you have time someday!

I love the card. It looks great. I have PSE 9 and have not made a card yet, but this one is nice. I will have to try it out. Thanks for the short tutorial.
I am visiting from WFMW. It is nice to “meet” you. I hope you enjoy the rest of your week.
Blessings!
