I have discovered an amazing way to incorporate worship and creativity that I am so excited to share with you!!!
A couple of years ago, my mom gave me an ESV Journaling Bible for my birthday. I immediately loved it, but didn’t know exactly what to do with it, so it sat on a shelf.
Then last spring I pinned a post by Shanna Noel on her Journaling Bible.
I was intrigued by the idea, but like too many of the ideas I pin, I didn’t do anything with it.
That is until last week when I read this post by Heather Greenwood. In it Heather displays the cover of her journaling Bible and gives an invitation to those interested to join a Facebook Group for Bible Journalers.
Then I was truly inspired and took action.
I pulled my ESV Journaling Bible off of the shelf and began covering it.
I used painted canvas on the back and the sides and I designed the front cover in photoshop using the Mixed Media Monthly Subscription kit and printed it out on cardstock. I also used washi tape around the edges to help hold everything together.
I couldn’t wait to begin my Bible journaling journey.
On Saturday night, I pulled out my limited art supplies, put on worship music and worked on my first page in my Journaling Bible.
Of course, it was from Phillippians 4:8, my focus verse here at DailyDwelling. This is really a verse that I keep at the forefront of my mind and meditate on often.
This morning during my quiet time, I worked on journaling a page from 1 Peter 2:9-10.
I designed this card in photoshop and attached it to the page with washi tape. I’ll be doing many of my pages this way as it leaves more room for personal journaling (on the back of the card) and more space to journal other verses.
Here’s the card that I designed to “tip in” to the page.
This verse speaks to me of how much my life is different before and after Christ. Before Him I was nothing…I was lonely, sad, desperate and angry! I was NOT A PEOPLE and now I am GOD’S PEOPLE!!!
I am going to be devoting Wednesdays here to being in God’s Word by sharing pages from my Journaling Bible or other things that I am learning from my time in God’s Word.
I am so amazed by the amount of people in the Journaling Bible Community who are getting excited about reading their Bibles for the first time, or the first time in a long time. Many are purchasing their first Bible and planning to open up their Bibles and read them for the first time. This makes my heart so happy!
All scripture is breathed out by God and is profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness.
2 Timothy 3:16
God’s Word is alive and active.
God’s Word changes lives.
God’s Word brings us to repentance.
God’s Word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our paths! (Psalm 119:105)
I am so thankful for God’s Word and its work in my life and in the lives of so many others who are being transformed by the renewing of their minds!
