I officially began documenting our week for Week in the Life yesterday. I kept my camera with me all day, even taking it to church!
Here’s a look at the stories that made up our Sunday…
As always, Will was up bright and early. He’s usually the first awake and he watches a show on Nexflix before breakfast.
Coffee for me…I woke up at 5:45, but didn’t get up until after 6 after texting with Keith.
Jenny was up next. She came into my office where Cupcake followed her and rolled around on the floor to be petted.
Look at that hair! Y’all I love it, but it is a nightmare to try to tame!!
All ready for church!
We were all ready for church a few minutes earlier than we had to leave (miracle!) so I took the kids outside to take some group photos.
Jenny gets confused every time we head to church about whether she’s going to Cubbies (AWANA), which is on Wednesday evenings, or Sunday School and Church, which she calls Preschool. Yesterday morning as she was getting dressed, she said, “OH, Mommy…now I know! If I’m wearing a shirt and jeans, I’m going to Cubbies, but if I’m wearing a dress I’m going to Preschool.” Pretty much, Jenny, pretty much.
I took this during the “gathering” time of fellowship between services. This is a new thing our church just started. As an introvert, I’m going to admit that this is a difficult time for me. I detest standing around trying to make “small talk” and feeling uncomfortable. I try and I think it’s a good concept, but it is hard.
Home from church. The kids ate a quick lunch of PB&J sandwiches and then they were off to quiet time.
During quiet time, I started working on my Week in the Life album…putting together the title page and writing on the planning sheet.
I also did some work on my blog during quiet time.
Quiet time is over! The girls spent their afternoon playing Barbies together.
And Will spent his time reading and playing Legos. He has quiet time in my bedroom. This is something we started several months ago to keep him and Jenny separate and peaceful during their quiet time. It’s called “quiet” time for a reason and if these two are together it is definitely NOT quiet.
The iron is always a part of my Sunday mornings. In our rush to get ready for church, I left it out and put it away after quiet time.
Laundry is a constant battle around here. Yesterday, I won! I did several loads of clothes yesterday afternoon, including folding and putting them away…SCORE!
Snack time. Cupcake is trying to get a bug that’s hanging out on the window outside…poor thing got so frustrated that she couldn’t get it!
Will and MC played several rounds of Connect Four before they got bored and began finding new ways of playing, which turned into arguments and whining and I made them put it away. Jenny and EA also played Hi-Ho-Cherry-O for a while.
Sunday afternoons always include time to plan for the upcoming week of homeschool. Usually with an afternoon cup of coffee to keep me going.
Dinner | Chicken Enchilada Soup was delicious. This was a new recipe and I’m sure I’ll be making it again.
Will asked me how I made it and EA responded, “She put enchiladas in the magic crock pot and it made soup.” Not quite exactly how it works, but I do love my magical crock pot!
The kids stayed up later than usual because we had to pick Keith up at the airport. He was coming home from being with his family in SC. I let them watch some Netflix until it was time to leave. EA read library books to Jenny. By the time Keith texted me that his plane landed, they were all very tired, especially Jenny.
Will was SO excited to see Keith, but poor thing fell fast asleep on the way to the airport. He slightly woke up as we were on our way home and said sleeping, “I love you, Daddy”.
Welcome home, Keith!!!!
We were all so happy to welcome Keith home. Our weeks are so much better when he’s with us!
I didn’t notice until we got home (actually Keith noticed and pointed it out) that the girls wore their “Team Daddy” shirts today to welcome him home. Those girls are so sweet and thoughtful!
So…that’s pretty much our day. It was good in so many ways.
I was most grateful to see my husband after a long week and to spend the night catching up with him.
Be sure to join me each day this week as I document our Week in the Life with words and photos!

Your kids look so sweet!! Love the photos you got on the first day. I think it’s so interesting to see other people’s routines vs. mine. Even what we share in common is a little bit different (like our coffee routines). Thanks for sharing.
