I think it’s about time that I share our homeschool curriculum choices now that we have fully settled into this schoool year.
I didn’t make any big changes for this year, so if you’ve taken a look at past year’s curriculum choices, things will look much the same. I’m a big believer in not fixing what’s not broken.
6th Grade Curriculum (EA & MC)
Core – (History, Bible, Read Alouds & Readers) Sonlight Core F – Eastern Hemisphere
Math – Saxon Math 7/6
Typing – Typing Instructor
Legacy Christian Academy Classes:
EA – Drama, Hand Sewing & Poetry and Play Writing
MC – Mixed Media Art, Hand Sewing & Poetry and Play Writing
4th Grade Curriculum (Will)
Core – (History, Bible, Read Alouds & Readers) Sonlight C Intro to World History Year 2 (combined with Jenny)
Math – Saxon Math 5/4
Wordly Wise Online
Legacy Christian Academy Classes: Grossology, Boys Adventure Class, and Lego Design
1st Grade Curriculum (Jenny)
Core – (History, Bible, Read Alouds, & Readers) Sonlight C Intro to World History Year 2 (combined with Will)
Math – Saxon Math 1
All About Reading – Level 1 (and moving on to Level 2)
All About Spelling Level 1 (when AAR Level 1 is completed)
Legacy Christian Academy Classes: Arts/Crafts, Choir, and Dance
The biggest change for this year was in deciding to combine Will and Jenny’s Sonlight cores. I burned out last year trying to manage three separate cores. Having the two older girls combined in one core and Jenny and Will combined in one has made things so much easier and enjoyable, too!
Whew! This sure makes for a full year, but we’re really enjoying it so far.
