We checked apple picking off of our fall bucket list this past weekend with a trip to Justus Apple Orchard in the Blue Ridge Mountains.
We left after church on Sunday, stayed overnight in Greenville and drove along the Blue Ridge Parkway in search of the perfect apple orchard on Monday.
The weather was wonderful…the first “real” day of fall with cool weather. We even had to make a run to Target for light jackets for everyone.
This orchard was wonderful! The people that ran it were so friendly and the apples were abundant. We were able to gather an entire bushel of Mutsu and Golden Delicious apples…more than we’ve ever came away with!
It was Jenny’s first time actually picking apples herself. She had lots of help from her big sisters.
Daddies are the best for reaching apples at the top of the trees!
We were told to taste the apples we were picking to make sure we liked them…and, well, I didn’t have to be asked twice!
Yum! They were delicious!
This was my first time ever having Mutsu apples and they’ve become a favorite!
Jenny preferred the Golden Delicious variety.
We started making our way back to the barn when our wagon was full of apples!
I have great helpers!
Jenny was completely fascinated by the goats at the farm. She had a blast watching them and trying to strike up a conversation.
They thought she was awfully cute!!
And no apple picking trip would ever be complete without finishing it off with apple cider doughnuts washed down by fresh apple cider.
