I decided last week to join my husband on his Strong Bonds retreat in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This retreat was for spouses of deployed soldiers and I had a fun Girls Night In planned for the spouses to spend some time getting to know one another and form connections they will need throughout this deployment.
The trip to Albuquerque is quite long…four hours, but we were able to make it enjoyable. Starting with Krispy Kreme doughnuts for Keith and I.
It was my first time going though a customs and border control checkpoint. It was quite exciting for me…and I took as many pictures as I could. I know…it just doesn’t take much for this small town girl to get excited.
I was a little disappointed that we were pretty much waved right on through. I don’t know what I expected, but I suppose when you see a mini-fan full of children there’s no reason to do a full search.
I am in awe of the beauty of God’s creation out here in the southwestern United States. I love the wide open spaces and beautiful blue skies!
I never knew that there were such beautiful mountains in the desert.
We stopped for lunch in a little town in New Mexico called Truth or Consequences. I was fascinated by the name of this town.
It was originally named Hot Springs, but changed it’s name in 1950 to the name of what was then a popular NBC radio program. The host of this quiz show program announced that it would air from the first town that renamed itself after the show and Hot Springs, New Mexico quickly renamed itself Truth or Consequences and won the honor!
After stopping for lunch at McDonald’s in Truth of Consequences, Jenny was fully entertained by her Happy Meal toy…a princess crown that fit her perfectly in personality and style!

Looks like a beautiful place to visit!
