When my kids moved from high chairs to sitting in booster seats at the table, I thought our days of high-chair grime and food caught in crevices were over.
Boy, was I wrong!
The space between the booster seat and the seat of our dining table chairs can catch every random spill and piece of food there is.
The best solution for it would be to simply wipe it down after every meal. But that just doesn’t always happen.
Inevitably, every time we had company coming over for dinner, I would pull the booster seats off and scrub and scrub to clean underneath the booster seats. They were always a mess!
Until now….
I have found the real best solution.
I put a hand towels in the seat of the chairs, underneath the booster seats. Now anything food or other suck yuck that may fall in that space lands on the hand towel that just has to be shaken out or washed.
It’s really a super simple solution that took me way too long to figure out!!

Oh, I hate seeing what’s under the booster. My worst so far is melted jello. That stuff is like glue on the chair! I’m going to try this tip to see if I’m less grossed out by it. 🙂

This is a great tip! I hate cleaning under booster seats! One of ours just quit using hers and another is still in high chair stage, so I’m filing this away to use with him in the future…

Great idea – sometimes the simplest solutions are the best!
I never thought I’d see the day, but we are actually booster-seat free in our house, finally! These kiddos are growing up so fast…

We started doing that when the dog started licking the chairs. Now I just swap out towles a couple of times a week (if I remember), and the area around the table feels cleaner.

We too use this method…we took an old bath towel and use it to protect our upholstered cushions. Great tip, mom!

This is such a great tip! It can also protect the chairs from getting scratched. We discovered too late that ours had scratched all the finish off!

Monica – Great idea! I used dish cloths with Jamie, when he was learning to use a regular cup. It worked great. Now…how to protect the booster (the kind that attaches to the table) from Daniel who feels compelled to suck on it…with a mouth full of baby food…eew… 🙂

A pillowcase pulled down over the back of the chair works wonders too! That keeps it from getting sticky from sticky little hands!
Jenny says
LOL that’s definitely a good idea.
