It’s June 1, which seems like such a milestone for our family. This is the last full month that we’ll be separated!
Our days have been incredibly full over the last few weeks and there’s so much to share.
The first thing I need to share before anything else, though, is Jenny’s birthday!
I can hardly believe my baby is SEVEN! I struggle with her growing up so much.
Of course, we began her birthday celebration with birthday donuts!
Then she was anxious to open her presents…
She got some adorable dresses from Grandma and a “Little Live Pets” pet bird from Nanny.
She’s changed her mind no less than 9,999 times about how she wanted this birthday to go down.
I finally discovered on Monday night that what she really wanted was to have some alone time with me. After a quick text with a friend, I was able to make it happen and I’m so thankful for the time I had with this sweet girl of mine.
After breakfast and opening presents, we got ready and left to visit the American Girl store.
She and I had lunch at Jenny’s favorite restaurant, Fritz’s Railroad Restaurant, where I splurged on a strawberry milkshake for Jenny. She let me have one *small* sip.
Jenny also requested to help me make her birthday cupcakes.
We made brightly colored marbled cupcakes with pink and purple buttercream frosting. They were topped with Shopkins rings and sprinkles.
We invited our neighbors over to share cupcakes with us for Jenny’s birthday and it was such a joy to be surrounded by them. Everyone ended up staying around and having such a good time. I absolutely love our community…it is really one of the greatest blessings of our time at Leavenworth.
Jenny had a really hard time settling down for sleep after enjoying such an exciting birthday. She was also struggling with missing her daddy. So, she got even more Mommy time by spending the night sleeping with me.
This girl is such a joy to our family. She brings so much light, laughter and fun to our world!
Last week after spending the morning reading her Bible (on her own) she came downstairs and told me that she wanted to be baptized and that she wanted to give her heart to Jesus. Praying with my children as they ask Jesus to be their Savior is an honor that I can hardly describe with words.
It humbles me that God has given me these precious children to raise and I just pray that I can teach them to love Him with their whole hearts.
Happy Birthday Jenny!!!
