Last Friday was our first warm day of the year. We saw that it was coming up on the weather forecast and for weeks, Keith and I have been saying to each other, “We HAVE to get out on Friday”.
We tossed several ideas of what to do around. We could do something “tourist-y” or so shopping or a whole plethora of things.
In the end, we decided to focus the day on the kids being able to enjoy the weather and play outside.
As soon as we finished a morning of homeschool, covering all of our essentials, and I fed Jenny after her morning nap, we loaded everyone up and headed out the door.
We made a quick stop by the grocery store to pick up food for a picnic lunch and headed to the park!
After our picnic lunch, the kids played on the playground a little, we went on a nature walk, and the kids played on the playground a little more.
We came home when Jenny started letting me know that she was ready for her afternoon nap. It was a little later than usual, but thankfully she held out until we got home and she took a great nap in her crib.
When all the kids were up from quiet time, they went out to the backyard to play some more.
I brought Jenny out and put her on the grass. She was so funny feeling the prickly blades on her hand for the first time.
We spread out a neat sheet for her to crawl around on.
She had a blast exploring nature…until she popped an acorn in her mouth!
Don’t worry, I was quick to rescue it out for her.
I served our dinner of barbecue pork, corn on the cob and backed beans on the deck.
EA, MC, and Will marveled at having two picnics in one day!
This was the absolute best use of the first warm day.
It felt so good to feel the warm air and the sunshine.
Now I’m just praying for more warm days to enjoy with my family.

You have such a lovely family!! We took advantage of some beautiful weather this last week by playing outside and taking lots of walks. We are awaiting the arrival of our second child (anytime now!) so I am taking notes of how you make time for fun outings for the older kids while still allowing time for naps 🙂
