As the mom of a boy who is sandwiched between older twin sisters and a younger baby sister, I have learned that boys are so very different from girls.
Sometimes I feel sorry for my little boy as all too often I expect more from him that I probably should.
I want to learn to love and accept him for just what he is…boy differences and all!
Our family spent this past weekend at Colonial Williamsburg as my husband led a marriage retreat for Army families.
During the time that he was teaching I was in a small hotel room with all four of our children.
By lunch time when the morning session was over, Will was bouncing off the walls.
I was quite ready to pull my hair out in frustration.
Then after we had lunch we went shopping.
Will was all over the place and hard to manage in the shopping center.
And again, I felt my frustration level climb as I struggled to enjoy the day.
When we returned my husband took Will outside before we began settling in for the night.
He was able to run and get lots of energy out.
This was what he needed all along.
As an active three year old little boy, he had a distinct need to run.
Did you notice that sweet smile on his precious face?
It’s a smile that lights up my world.
It’s a smile that I cherish.
It’s a smile that shows up when I’m able to be more understanding of his needs as an active little boy.
It’s a smile that shows up when I love him just as he is.

My boys are the same! If they can get out and run, they are as happy as can be! I wish we lived just steps away like we did in Germany so our kiddos could play together again! =) Miss you guys!

Yes, my kiddos too benefit from some down time to run around… otherwise they are literally bouncing off of my walls. Cute shots!
