I was chatting recently with a new friend and she asked me an excellent “getting to know you question”.
The reason I say this question was so excellent is because it went beyond the normal conversation starters that are quite surface-y.
It was quite loaded, actually.
She asked, “What is it that makes Monica, Monica?”
When I pondered that question, there was one thing that came to mind.
God’s faithfulness to me throughout all of the roads of life that I have traveled is the one thing that has made me uniquely me.
You could say that it’s what makes Monica, Monica.
I have been reading Max Lucado’s newest book, God’s Story, Your Story: When His Becomes Yours. The book trailer can be viewed below.
This book relays the message that God’s story is our story. The stories of our lives and our walks of faith intersect with God’s story of redemption.
Throughout this book as Max Lucado describes God’s narrative I can see my own story of faith.
The Bible is not just some book that was written a long time ago with a list of rules for us to follow and historical narratives to read. The Bible is a living book relevant to our lives and God’s plans for us today.
God’s story if full of ordinary people, people just like you and me.
God’s story is one of faithfulness, of God’s faithfulness to an underserving people.
God’s story is beautiful and perfect, holy is every way because He is beautiful and perfect, holy in every way.
I am humbled in knowing that God allows me to be a part of His story as I walk with Him.
From God’s Story, Your Story:
It’s in Christ that we find out who we are and what we are living for, long before we first heard of Christ and got our hopes up, he had his eye on us, had designs on us for glorious living, part of the overall purpose he is working out in everything and everyone.
We all have a story.
We have a story of salvation, of redemption, of forgiveness, and of faith.
We all have a story to tell.
His is Mine is a campaign inspired by God’s Story, Your Story that enables believers to unite, to be heard, and to reflect the power of God’s story in each of our lives.
You can share your story on the His is Mine website and read the stories that have already been shared, including mine.

I love Max Lucado’s books! God has been so faithful to pursue me even when I had no desire to pursue him. He’s been so patient with me as I work through baggage and wounds and receive deep, deep healing from him. I can’t imagine sharing my life with people I don’t know without Him shining through as He is so often on the forefront of my mind.

God has been faithful to me..He placed the desire to be a stay at home mom years ago. It took eight years to have our first born but He is faithful. I now have two children and am blessed to be able to homeschool them. Never believe that God has forgotten you. That is a lie from the Devil. God always keeps his promises! 🙂

God has been faithful to me in many ways. My husband and I have struggled with jobs but with our faith we have always been able to provide for our children and be able to pay our bills. With out God I don’t know what would have happened. God brought me my husband when I was 21 and struggling to survive with a drug addicted mother and brother and people in and out of my home stealing from me. I prayed that for help and he sent the best thing in the world, my husband. That was a little over 9 years ago.

The thing I love the most is when God is teaching me something. He starts working on something with me and I can see a pattern of tests in my life. At first I am sometimes frustrated and then after a while when the same test comes up I just laugh and say, “This is a test – right?” I love that he cares enough about me to change my heart and I can’t wait to see what he works on next.
