Whew! Last week was one of our busiest weeks of the year!
With Memorial Day, two birthdays, a birthday party, an anniversary and a Volunteer Recognition ceremony to attend, my husband and I joked that it was worse than Christmas.
But it was such a full week with so many memories to cherish.
I have exactly 468 pictures on my hard drive from last week.
At some point I got a tad overwhelmed and stopped updating the blog.
So…let’s catch up a bit.
Jenny and Will had a birthday party to at Peter Piper Pizza to celebrate their birthdays with their friends.
Here was the invitation I made using A Girl’s Perfect Birthday kit by Jady Day Studio.
They had such a good time at their party! Many of our friends came and it was incredible to be with friends to celebrate Will and Jenny’s birthday. As a military family who moves a lot, we haven’t always had the blessing of having lots of friends as we do here. Having them at Will and Jenny’s party is one blessing that I do not take for granted.
I went easy on their birthday cakes this year and ordered bakery cakes from our local Albertson’s grocery store. I ordered a 1/4 sheet cake for each of them…a Frozen cake for Jenny and Avengers for Will.
Friday was Jenny’s actual birthday. My baby girl turned four years old.
Four years old.
That seriously makes me sad to think about.
My baby isn’t such a baby anymore and she reminds me of that everyday.
I wanted to do something special for her on her birthday, so we went to the splash park on post with a friend and her children who are great friends with Will and Jenny.
After returning home from the splash park, Jenny helped me bake her birthday cupcakes.
Being able to help me in the kitchen is a joy to this girl’s heart.
For dinner I made homemade corn dogs for the first time ever. Keith and I racked our brains trying to decide on a special birthday dinner for her. We had the hardest time thinking of a food that she really enjoys, and the best we could come up with was corn dogs. I didn’t want to do frozen corn dogs for her birthday dinner…how lame would that be? So, I found an awesome recipe for homemade corn dogs and we went with that.
After dinner Jenny enjoyed opening presents from us and her grandparents before heading off to bed after an eventful day.
Now that she’s FOUR, Jenny is convinced that she has reached “big girl” status.
She keeps saying things such as, “I can’t use a little fork, I have to use a big fork because I’m a big girl now” and “Mommy, I’m not going to slide down the stairs anymore because that’s not what big girls do“.
Oh, be still my heart! Time can slow down at any moment and I think I’d be okay with it.
This weekend she declared herself ready to start preschool.
I guess she is a big girl now and this mommy needs to start accepting that and cherishing these moments of her slowly growing up into a precious little girl.
