I hope you had a wonderful Easter yesterday! We certainly did, especially because my parents are here visiting for the week.
We were able to enjoy our church’s Easter service with my mom and dad sitting in the pew with us and it was just so special.
As we were walking out of church, a friend stopped me and commented on the kids Easter outfits. I actually had it together enough this year to coordinate their clothes. She asked me if I took pictures and I told her that, yes, I made sure to get photos of the kids before leaving home for church.
And then she asked me if I was able to be in the photos. Since I was not, she offered to take a photo of all five of us.
It is thoughtfulness such as this that has really been a blessing to me throughout this year of Keith being away. Special holidays like this can be really hard. Who am I kidding…ordinary days can be really hard. But it is such a blessing when friends think of us in even the smallest of ways.
Being a part of a caring church has been key to my survival this year. I have a pastor that I know prays for us. I also have a Sunday School class filled with friends who have ministered to us in big and small ways throughout the last nine months.
Simply asking to take a photo of me with my kids may not seem like a big deal, but to this mommy who cherishes photos and memories documented it’s everything! It’s everything that my friend recognized this need knowing that Keith is away.
We’re counting down the days until Keith comes home and we move to El Paso to find our footing with being a family all together again.
But as I am counting down with eager anticipation, I am also sad to say goodbye to the amazing community here that has loved my family so well.
