We began our new homeschool year this week and it has been so satisfying to be back to doing what I’m made to do.
I keep asking myself what I’ve been doing all summer…although by the piles of laundry that are, well, piling up because I’m busy schooling, I guess I was folding laundry and keeping my house clean.
Anyway…we’ve had a fantastic week and I am so very thankful for that!
I try to make the first day special for the kids. I always looked forward to the first day of school when I was a child and I want that to be something they look forward to as well.
Usually on the first day of school, I make a special breakfast (strawberry cheesecake french toast), the kids have new outfits to wear, and we take pictures.
Here are the “first day of school” photos of my new class for the 2016-2017 school year.
First up is Will, my fourth grader.
He would not lift the sign that I made for him because he did not want to cover his Star Wars shirt.
I just love his smile!!!
Next is my first grader, Jenny.
This girl’s poses crack me up!!! She brings such joy to my life!
I cannot believe that my baby is in first grade…It makes me so happy, yet so sad at the same time. I miss her being a baby, but I love watching her grow up, too!
Precious!!! This girl is a treasure!
And now my two sixth graders, EA & MC.
Sometimes I just can’t get over these two girls! They were born just two and three pounds and now are such beautiful young ladies growing and maturing before my eyes.
EA looks so very grown up to me here!
She is so much like me…sensitive, strong driven and a classic first-born.
This outfit is SO Mary Catherine. She is my beautiful creative. I need to spend more time encouraging that in her.
She is also incredibly curious about the world around her and has the biggest heart of compassion.
My neighbor noticed me outside taking photos of the kids and offered to take one of all five of us. I am so thankful for this shot. I miss Keith being around to take photos of us. Who am I kidding…I just plain miss Keith being around. We all missed him terribly on our first day of school, but he was intentional about Sykpeing with the kids before we started our day.
I’m excited about all the lessons that we’re all going to learn over this next year.
Many of you have followed our homeschool journey for years now and others of you are new here, but I just wanted to say that I am so thankful that you allow me to share our journey with you. Thank you for your encouragement and support!!!
