Surely there is not a righteous man on earth who does good and never sins.
~Ecclesiastes 7:20
This week, in studying Romans, I have been comforted in knowing that Jesus came to earth for sinners just like me. I don’t have to earn my salvation because I could never be good enough. Right standing with God comes only through faith in Jesus, in His works and not of anything of my own.
This has been a full-on week of enjoying summer…we are done with school and are just enjoying our last moments in Kansas while also making preparations to leave.
1. I love nothing more than sitting on my porch reading a good book, preferably with coffee nearby as well.
I am currently reading Everyone Brave is Forgiven by Chris Cleave. It’s a book that was on my must-read list for a long time. And then I kept hearing such good things about it and REALLY wanted to read it. Historical fiction written around World War II is my favorite kind of book, so I knew I would love it. Then for our anniversary, Keith gave me three books from my Amazon Wish List and this was one of them. I’m loving it so far!!
2. Two of my girlfriends and I got pedicures this week. It was a fun morning out with these friends who are also my neighbors. They are two people that I just cannot think about saying goodbye to in a few weeks.
Anyway…back to the pedicures…mine was torture until it was over. My feet are so sensitive that I just cannot enjoy the process of getting a pedicure. I love the look and even the feel of my pretty, pampered feet once it is complete, though.
3. The kids and I have been spending more time at the pool this summer than we ever have before. Partly it’s because they are all big enough and comfortable enough in the water that I don’t have to be a complete Nervous Nelly. Also, we will have the post community pool within easy walking distance of our house at Ft. Bliss and knowing that I want to enjoy it there has encouraged me to enjoy it here, too.
4. I have been trying to think of a fun way to count down the days until Keith’s return. I’ve tossed around several ideas, but nothing felt like “the one”. That is until I found this letter board for just $10 at Walmart yesterday.
This is so perfect for our count down, but it will have many other uses as well!! I have it displayed above my desk right now and the kids love it!
5. I babysat a neighbor’s baby and toddler this morning while she went to her husband’s CGSC graduation with her older two kiddos. Cupcake was fascinated with the baby’s stroller and spent a good portion of the morning climbing in and even sleeping in the bottom of the stroller.
I’m sure you and I both know that if she had been put in that stroller she would have wanted NOTHING to do with it!
Crazy cat!!
That’s it for tonight…I’ve been up way past my bedtime all week, so I’m hoping to make it an earlier night tonight.
I hope you have a fantastic weekend!!
