Hi friends!!
I am going to take a few weeks off from menu planning as we begin our transition to El Paso. In the meantime, I’m going to start a new post for Mondays that will eventually include my menu plan. I’m calling this new weekly post “Goals and Grace”.
I was talking with a friend today about how I “manage it all”.
The simple fact is that I don’t.
But I am an achiever and I am constantly setting goals. I think it’s good for us to set goals. I know it’s good for me personally to set goals for my own personal and spiritual growth.
While I am constantly setting goals, I am also constantly giving myself grace when I fall short of those goals.
“Goals and Grace” is a motto of sorts that I have set for myself recently and I am truly loving it!
For my “goals and grace” posts on Mondays I plan to share my weekly and/or monthly goals, possibly a look at my planner for the week and my weekly meal plan (when I get back to that).
I used Just Jaimee’s July 2017 Storyteller Planner kit for this week’s planner spread. I love the fun colors…it just shouts summer, doesn’t it? I had so much fun placing stickers on my planner and marking Keith’s return was just the best thing ever!
My planner is already a lot messier than when I took this photo. I’m at the point where I am making to-do lists on top of my to-do lists.
I’m trying to be more intentional about using my Powersheets to track monthly, weekly and daily goals. This seems to be a system that is going to work for me!
Last month I wrote my goals down, but didn’t track them. This month I am trying to review my daily goals as I wind down for bed each night and I’ll evaluate my weekly goals when I do my weekly planning.
My goals for this month are…
Monthly:
-Reconnect with Keith
-Document our PCS
-Reconnect with friends
-Establish better morning/night routines
-Read: Chasing Slow
Weekly:
-Complete weekly planning
-Gratitude journal
-Blog (x5)
-Scrapbook (Project Life)
Daily:
-Bible Reading
-Prayer
-Exercise (10K steps)
-Read
I have a much easier time reading fiction books than non-fiction. But I am a learner and value learning and stimulating my mind, so I am making it a goal to read a specific non-fiction book each month. This month I am reading Chasing Slow. This is a book that I have been working on for a while now…I pick it up, read a little, and put it back down then repeat. I love that even reading this book forces me to slow down a bit.
One thing that I am really focusing on right now is establishing better morning and night routines. I function so much better in the mornings and I know that I accomplish so much more if I have an early morning time of peace and quiet. To make that happen, I have to get to bed earlier! So, I’m being super intentional about getting in bed by 9 pm. Once in bed I am filling out my gratitude journal, reviewing my daily goals, and spending some quiet time reading before ending the day.
I am excited to have my day book ended by a time of quiet reflection.
It’s an exciting week for my family…I can’t wait to update you on my goals next week! It’s so crazy to think that a week from now we will have started packing up our Kansas home. In two weeks we will be in El Paso!!!

LOVED your blog post today! I struggle with my efforts to be intentional, but have at least managed to keep to my aim of reading the bible in a year using the Daily Walk bible. You’re an example as always. Super excited for you that Keith will be home soon; your honesty and truth as you’ve documented your joys and challenges this past year have been inspirational! Bless you all.
Btw, pretty planner! Which one do you have?
