There are few things in this world that warm my heart like seeing my children learn to read and develop a love for reading.
Will has really taken off this year in school in his reading ability.
He has shown an interest in reading on his own and he’s gaining so much confidence!
Yesterday afternoon while I was away taking Jenny to the doctor, Will had some alone time in his room.
My husband went up to check on him and found him sitting on his window seat, toys from previous play strewn about the floor, reading the Dr. Seuss book Hop on Pop.
I treasure these photos my husband snapped for me so much because they represent such growth in my little boy.
He spent the afternoon reading away on his own!
I didn’t make him pick up that book and read…he chose to do it because he is learning to love words and in turn love reading books.
As his teacher, some days I feel as if we’re stuck…not making any progress at all.
I wonder if I’m cut out for this job before me.
And I pray that all of this work is making a difference in my little boy’s life and especially in his heart.
And then moments like this remind me that all the hard work and effort that I put into homeschooling my children is worth it!
There is nothing like knowing that I taught him to read those words on the pages of that book that he’s holding in his hands.
