I went to the commissary last night when my husband came home from work. I was starving all afternoon and feared that this would be a disasterous grocery shopping trip. A hungry me and a store full of food just isn’t a great combination.
But I knew this going in, so I tried to fix my mind on healthy foods like fruits rather than chips and dip and candy.
This worked great as I allowed myself to splurge on my favorite fruit in the produce section….Honey Crunch Apples!
I only got two because these were going to be very special treats for myself to save for two special quiet times this week. Yes, I save my best snacking for when my children are tucked away in their rooms. Don’t we all??
Don’t worry…I didn’t forget about the children. I purchased an entire bag of golden delicious apples for them. But, Honey Crunch Apples were to be extra special and saved only for Mommy….much different from the eat anytime you want to bag of little apples.
I put them away in the refrigerator and forgot all about those special treats.
I didn’t even have a chance to warn EA, MC, and Will that these were Mommy’s special apples before I walked out of the bathroom this morning and saw this….
Will was standing in the middle of the living room holding one of my apples staring up at me.
He was caught red-handed!
And since he had alredy taken a couple of bites, there was nothing I could do. (other than grabbing the camera, of course)
Oh, I spent some time moaning and groaning about the loss of my apple.
Which caused EA to confess to giving it to him.
And then I moaned and groaned some more.
It got a bit dramatic on my part….there may have been tears.
And then MC suggested that we should just share it because, “sharing is good, Mommy”.
And that’s what we did. We each took turns taking a bite and enjoying a delicious and healthy snack together. It was actually a fun time, but don’t tell them that.
They need to know that I was serious with my warning that the other big ol’ special apple sitting in the refrigerator is MINE ALL MINE!!

lol – don’t you love it when our kids ‘remind’ us of things like sharing? Today I was getting so frustrated with LB and after I put him in time out, AG sweetly looked up at me and said, “he’s still learning, Mom.” Ouch – yes, thank you for the reminder! 🙂

Haha…. Isn’t it just the icing on the cake that Mommy’s have to share too?
And yes, I hide my best snacks too!

That apple looks delicious. I wonder if honey crunch in Germany is the equivalent of honey crisp apples here. Love them!

I know the feeling I just has a long discussion today about how the Mint Hot Chocolate was MY hot chocolate and the (cheap) Hot Chocolate with extra marshmallows was for everyone else.
