EA and MC’s memory verse from this week comes from Psalm 3:5.
I laid me down and slept; I awoke; for the Lord kept me.
Psalm 3:5
We started reciting it on Sunday night after they colored their picture of a little bear sleeping. Yes, the one you see is the one I colored because I am a bad Mommy and can’t find MC’s. She’ll just get to do another one tomorrow!
They have made a game out of saying it while I am busy changing Will’s diaper. They will run around his room in circles and repeat the verse as I say it. It gets louder and faster and louder and faster. They laugh and have a great time with this.
I explained to them that the verse is where the children’s prayer, “Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep” came from. Makes sense, doesn’t it?? So, we’ve also reciting it before they go to bed at night.
Tonight after I said the verse with MC and prayed with her, I went over to EA. As I began to say the verse with her, she took over, and said it ALL BY HERSELF!!! I was and am so excited for her. This is the second verse she has completely memorized. The first was Genesis 1:1.
Scripture memory is so very, very important. I’m even learning some new verses and committing them to memory along with my girls.
