Hi guys! I have just a quick post for you today to share my One Little Word for 2017.
For the past several years I’ve chosen a word to be my guiding focus for the year. This idea originated with Ali Edwards and this year I’ve signed up for her One Little Word workshop to get the most out of my word for this year.
I’m dedicating Wednesday’s blog post to writing about my word and how I’m practicing it throughout the year and I invite you to join me here each Wednesday to see how I’m growing and utilizing this word in my life.
I’m excited about the prospects of the word that I’ve chosen for 2017 and I’m so excited to share it with you!
My “One Little Word” for 2017 is Simplify!
With our move to South Carolina on the horizon I am anticipating using this word to simplify my home in preparation for that move. But I don’t just want to simplify our home and our stuff. I want to simplify our overall life. To simplify means to invite peace and calmness into our space and for that I am so ready!
I look forward to fleshing out what this word really means and how to incorporate it into my whole life throughout this year.
I sat down a few days ago and (like a good Army wife) came up with an acronym for Simplify that encompasses what I want this word to bring to my life this year.
With Simplify as my One Little Word for 2017 I’m looking forward to a simple, intentional, meaningful, purposeful, life giving, impactful, focused year.
I invite you to join me on this journey!
Do you chose a word of the year? This is a great way to get focused in the new year without making “resolutions” that may not make it past the first week in January.
Mary says
Confident.
That is my word for the year
Monica Andrews says
I like that word, Mary!
Deb Cadovius says
Oh that is right up my alley but since you’re using it, I’ll think of another one. I LOVE figuring out ways to simplify our family life. Hmmmm gotta grab come coffee and turn on my brain. 🙂
Monica Andrews says
I loved the word you chose! That coffee did the trick! 🙂
Gillian says
I’d also thought of joining this class. The word I had chosen is INTENTIONAL. My life has been so stressful recently, I’m hoping that focussing on this word will help me shed what’s not necessary in my life and direct me to create purposeful goals.
Monica Andrews says
I love INTENTIONAL, Gillian! It’s a word I have gravitated towards before and it was definitely a contender for me as well. I’ll be praying that you’ll be inspired by this word to live a life of purpose this year!
Barbie says
My word is Commit. I’m wanting to commit all areas of my life to God and be more intentional in my devotion to Him and to others.
Monica Andrews says
I love that, Barbie!

I am new to your blog, finding you through the Paislee Press Creative Team! I’m also still kind of new to memory keeping and I can’t wait to see what I learn from your blog.
I am also participating in One Little Word this year and my word is Try.
While I am a medically retired service member, I am also about to be an Army wife. Good luck on a smooth move to your new home!
Love, Jenn
Monica Andrews says
Hi Jenn! I’m go glad that you’re here!
