For the past several years I have selected “One Little Word” to guide me through the year. I spent all year focusing on this one specific word and finding ways to incorporate it into my life.
Some of my past words have been enjoy, steadfast, dare, create, and simplify.
Each word has had a special meaning to my life for that season, or that year.
I spent longer this year trying to decide on exactly what my One Little Word would be. I even signed up for Ali Edwards’ One Little Word class before I knew for sure what my word would be.
The one question I kept asking myself was, “What is the one thing that I want MORE of in my life this year?”
And my resounding answer was and still is JOY!
After asking and answering that question, the word JOY stayed with me.
My One Little Word for this year is JOY and I cannot even type it without using all caps.
I want to welcome an all caps JOY in my life this year!
I can’t say or think the word JOY without smiling.
I want to welcome so much more smiling into my life this year!
I want JOY to lead me as I make goals and dream for the future.
I want to be a joyful Christian, wife, mom, friend, and creative!
I want to bring more joy into everything that I do from cooking breakfast to reading a book.
I’ll be sharing more about my journey with this word as I process and work my way through the monthly prompts in Ali Edwards’ One Little Word class. I invite and welcome you to join in on this journey!
I can’t wait to see how this year progresses with JOY!
Do you choose a word for the year? I would love to hear yours below!

I could use some more JOY in my life! Great word. Mine is simplify and hopefully as I do, the joy will come.
