My husband and I went on our first date night since moving to South Carolina last night. We went to see the new Spiderman movie and it was AMAZING!
Going on our first date night here means that the kids had their first babysitter here.
I’ve been blessed in finding two girls at church who I think are going to make excellent babysitters for us. The girl we had last night came from the recommendation of a new friend in our Sunday School class.
Having a babysitter for the first time always makes me a little nervous.
Sure, we’re trying her out, but at the same time, I feel as if we’re being “tried out” as well.
The whole time I’m out with my husband I’m worrying about how things are going at home.
I’m hoping that the kids like her.
And I’m praying overtime that she likes them.
I gave our crew of four my best “please don’t act crazy” talk before she arrived last night.
They were all so excited for her to come and play with them! They were practically bouncing off the walls while they were waiting. I did my best to calm the restless natives.
They seemed to hit it off with her right away.
She’s a pretty girl, so Will was happy. He remembered meeting her at church on Sunday.
Jenny was even okay with us leaving. She yelled a {very} loud “BYE” to us before we walked out the door.
EA and MC had Candyland pulled out almost as soon as she walked in the door and they had a game well underway before we left.
We always pay well on the first night, so as we made a stop by the ATM on our way home for extra cash, we wondered how the night went.
All seemed to be well when we walked in.
All the kids were sound asleep in their beds.
She relayed that the night went well, the kids were good, and Will wasn’t *too* wild.
After she left we discovered a mangled and twisted “Slinky” toy sitting on the ottoman in the living room.
My husband spent the next half-hour trying to unmangle and untwist the mess of a slinky before giving up.
My only thought was “what in the world did they do?!” and “I hope this doesn’t ruin our chances of ever going on a date again”.
I knew our girls would be able to give us the scoop this morning.
When we asked they said that either Will or Jenny did it while they were playing Sorry with the babysitter. They weren’t sure who.
We figured that much.
We actually had Jenny pegged as the culprit.
And our guess was confirmed when we asked Will about it.
He said, “my baby sister tied me up with the slinky and then I was all twisted up”.
Hmmmm…that explains it.
If a mangled and twisted beyond repair slinky is our worst find upon coming home from a date night, we’re probably okay.
I just hope the babysitter agrees.
