I recently read the book The Rag Coat by Lauren Mills to the class I teach at our homeschool co-op. There is a great line that the father in the book says to his daughter, teaching a very mportant lesson. He says, “People only need people, and nothing else“.
That line stayed with me for weeks after reading the book.
I couldn’t help dwelling on how true that is. People need people. God created us to be in relationship with other people…in healthy relationship with other people.
I was asked in a blogging Facebook group I am in about the lessons we have learned through blogging. This would be one of the most important lessons I have learned. People need people. We need each other for support, encouragement, and challenge. I love the communities I have found through blogging! And my biggest regrets in blogging have been in not investing relationships more and collaborating with other bloggers more.
This morning I was talking to a friend who recently lost a loved one. She talked about how relationships were so important to her in the grieving process.
People need people.
As an introvert, I often get overwhelmed and I am tempted to close myself off from the world around me. I could easily live within my own head and be quite happy.
But then I am reminded that people need people.
I need relationship with others. I may be able to operate on my own and in my own head, but I am so much happier when I allow others in.
I also need to invest myself in giving to others in relationship. There is tremendous blessing in giving and receiving in relationships.
To help me keep this life truth at the forefront of my mind, I created a printable and want to share it with you as well!
Click on the image above or HERE to download this free PDF. Place it in a frame or hang it on the wall nearby to remind you that people need people.
