I had heard of you by the
hearing of the ear,
but now my eye sees you;
therefore I despise myself,
and repent in dust and ashes.
-Job 42: 5, 6
Hearing of God and seeing God are two completely different acts.
Many grow up hearing of God, but they have yet to see Him.
Hearing of God without seeing Him leaves us unchanged.
But seeing God leaves us forever changed.
Seeing God brings us face to face with ourselves as well…with our true selves…dirty, filthy, and unworthy.
Seeing God humbles us as we confront His holiness, His righteousness, His incredible love, and His mercy.
Seeing God involves our eyes, and our heart.
Seeing God leaves us with no choice but repentance.
