As I focus my thoughts on my One Little Word, steadfast, this year, I am finding that steadfastness and focus go hand in hand.
In order to be steadfast, we must first know what we want or need to be steadfast in.
It’s extremely difficult to be steadfast in all the things of life…there’s just too much!
So, lately, I am asking myself what it is that I want to be steadfast in this year. Along with that, I am also asking myself what are the things that I can let go of in order to remain steadfast in the things that matter the most.
In answer to my own questions, I’ve discovered that I want to be steadfast in…
– love of God and others
– in my walk of faith and growing spiritually
– in being a supportive, encouraging wife to my husband
– in being a nurturing mom and teacher to my children
– in being an honoring friend
– in communicating the stories of our everyday and how God has so richly blessed us through blogging and scrapbooking
This verse from God’s Word really stood out to me today as it relates to this journey I’m taking this year in building steadfastness into my life.
Let your eyes look directly forward, and your gaze be straight before you. Give careful thought to the paths for your feet and be steadfast in all your ways.
~Proverbs 4:25-26
With eyes looking directly forward and a gaze that is straight before me I can really focus on being steadfast in these things that God has called me to be steadfast in. I am giving careful thoughts to the path of my feet and in doing so, I can be steadfast.
Just this week as I have been looking forward, gazing straight and giving careful thought to my year ahead, I’ve taken some steps to eliminate some of the things that are not a part of those things that I am focused on being steadfast in. These releases are freeing me to focus…to focus on my faith, to focus on my family, and to focus on my relationships with friends and family.
Steadfastness and focus are going hand in hand for me right now…who knew!
What are the things you want to be steadfast in this year?
