Sunday was a great day for me. I get discouraged from time to time with the worship opportunities that are available (or not) here. But I have to constantly remind myself that worship is not about the setting, worship is not about the music, worship is not about the atmosphere around me, worship is not about the words spoken in a sermon, worship is about my choice to worship the one true, living God that deserves to be worshiped and praised.
I was able to wake up and have a great time of Bible Study before the day started. This, along with getting a shower before my kids wake up, can really determine the way my day will go. I need my time in God’s Word to face each day. This day was no different.
CH Sheilb preached the sermon this morning titled “Moses’ Footprints” from Exodus chapter 2. Here are the notes that I took:
James Hoyt (misspelled I’m sure), a soldier during WW2, rescued prisoners in a concentration camp. This was the defining moment of his life.
What was the most memorable moment in your life?
Moses was born to common people, but he rose to high places and was used greatly by God.
What was his most defining moment? The moment thta changed the rest of his life?
This defining moment happened early in his lfie; it set the stage for who he would be.
1. At birth – God used unikely people to do His will in not following Rharoh’s orders.
2. Being hidden by his parents. God gave Moses a family who believed in him.
3. Moses was saved by the creativity of God’s people.
4. Moses was saved by the bravery of his sister to offer to get a wet nurse.
These conditions saved Moses life:
1. God used unlikely people to do His will.
Who were some of the unlikely people who’ve touched your life
-growing up?
– recently?
God can use you to do His will, even as unlikely as you may be.
2. God gave Moses a family who believed in Him.
Maybe you weren’t blessed with a happy home, but you can provide one for your children.
3.Moses was saved from death because creative and risk-taking people supported him.
Do we take risks?
What kind of risks are you taking for the Lord?
4. Moses mother was willing to sacrifice in order to save his life…like Christ who sacrificed His life for us.
We benefit from the sacrifices others make on our behalf.
What are we willing to sacrifice for the Lord?
Where are your footprints taking you?
The sermon left me with a lot of reflecting to do. I want my life count for the Lord. I want to be used of Him. But, really, am I doing His will? am I providing a happy home for my children? am I taking risks for Him? and am I sacrificing for Him?
I can answer yes to some of these, but to others, I don’t know. And if I’m not doing these things, then I need to take steps to do them.
