Every Sunday this year, before getting out of the car at church, the kids and I (and Keith when he was home) stopped to take a selfie together.
I’ve posted these selfies on social media and included them in my Project Life layouts each week.
This simple act has become a ritual that holds a lot of meaning for me.
It marks another week in a year of passing time waiting for my husband to return home.
It gradually, from week to week, shows my children growing up. I’m excited about looking at these photos from beginning to end of the year.
It also says that we’re at church, our place of fellowship, encouragement and worship.
Sometimes going to church takes a ton of effort, though.
And even though I love it, sometimes I don’t want to make that effort to be there. Often this is the case and I do it anyway. That’s what obedience is all about.
This morning was one of those days. We’ve actually missed the last two weeks because of sickness…nothing major, so don’t worry…just colds and such. But after missing two weeks, getting back into the routine is difficult.
I had lots of not very good excuses for not wanting to make that effort this morning…
I woke up tired.
I wasn’t feeling well.
The weather was very unseasonably warm.
And to be honest, I didn’t feel like being around people.
I put my excuses aside this morning and got ready for church anyway and I was so blessed in doing so.
Our fellowship in Sunday School was encouraging and uplifting this morning.
Worship was moving this morning. It was something my soul desperately needed.
And the sermon was hope-filled. I needed that, too!
And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.
Hebrews 10:24-25
Our #sundaymorningselfie photos each week are often terrible shots, but I cherish them because they remind me of the importance of us being together in church on Sunday morning.
It is important for us to set aside all the excuses we may have to discipline ourselves to be in fellowship with other believers.
It is important that we do not neglect to meet together.
This meeting encourages us in our walk of faith, especially as we see the Day of Christ’s coming drawing near.

Amen! Gosh, I should’ve read this before I got up this am. LOL! Allergies have me feeling a little blue. Then, we were up early, on Saturday, making tons of pancakes for Ezekiel’s basketball breakfast and out the door just as quick as they were made. All I wanted to do was sleep in this morning, but I’m always so glad I make the choice to show up ;). So glad you made it last week AND THIS WEEK! You rock, girl! See you tomorrow! XOXO
