Will turned ten yesterday and I fought back tears all day as I tried my best to celebrate him and make his day special.
He has been counting down the days until he turns ten for the longest time now. Every morning he comes into my room and say…”ten days”…”five days”…”four days”…”three days”…”two days”…”one more day”…and today he just came in with the biggest smile ever on his face!
Doughnuts for breakfast has become a birthday tradition in our home!
Lately, I’ve been arranging the doughnuts on a plate and topping them with a candle. The kids love it!!!
He picked chocolate frosted doughnuts with coconut and peanuts.
After breakfast he was ready to open presents.
When Keith was home, we typically waited until after dinner for presents, but somehow that has changed this year. The kids have the day off of school (hello homeschool benefit!) and I knew he would enjoy spending his day playing with his new toys.
Lots of Star Wars action figures were on his birthday list this year. He could spend hours playing with these. Who am I kidding…he DOES spend hours playing with these!
Cupcake was very curious about his presents.
All three girls worked together to make this rocket ship pillow for Will. It turned out super cute, too!!
Will chose to eat lunch out at our favorite Mexican restaurant in Kansas City, Chuy’s. Of course, he chose it because it sounds like Chewbacca. It’s all Star Wars all the time around here!
Will’s day ended with a special call from Keith on Skype.
The girls reminded me that we did the same thing on Will’s first birthday.
I simply can’t end this without telling you how proud I have been of Will over the last year. He has really matured a lot and we’ve grown closer over this past year that Keith has been away. He has become more responsible and respectful. He has been sensitive to me…showing concern and care of hard days. And he is growing in his relationship with the Lord as well, which is my heart’s greatest prayer for my son.
I am so excited to see what the next ten years and beyond bring for my sweet boy!
