Having Keith home for the last two weeks has been an incredible blessing. We have enjoyed our time together so much and are now preparing to send him back to Korea for the next few months.
I thought it would be fun today to share some of the ways we’ve spent our time together. We didn’t make big elaborate plans for Keith’s leave, we just wanted to be intentional about spending focused time together as a family. I think that was a goal that we accomplished.
Here are some of the ways we’ve spent our time together over the last two weeks…
The weather has been beautiful here in Kansas, so there has been lots of outside time!
We cherished being in church together two Sundays in a row! Keith was able to thank our Sunday School class for the way they have taken such great care of our family. My community of friends there has been the greatest blessing of this year.
We spent lots of quiet time doing art and reading…inside and out.
We celebrated Valentine’s Day!
Keith and I went out on a date to a favorite restaurant in town the night before Valentine’s so we could have a nice steak dinner at home with the kids on Valentine’s Day.
Will was convinced that Keith was here so he could take Will out to buy flowers for me. It’s has become a special tradition that Keith takes Will out to buy flowers (he always picks red roses) to give me on Valentine’s Day.
I got my hair cut (and colored)!!! This was a much, much needed treat!
We visited the Kansas City Zoo and everyone saw their favorite animals out enjoying the beautiful day! Will’s favorite is the Meerkats….he gets so excited to see them!!
Keith spent some special one-on-one time with each of the kids. He took them out to lunch at McDonald’s and then spent the afternoon with them.
Keith and I played several games of Canasta, our favorite card game, after the kids went to bed. I think the score is tied right now. 🙂
We ate at Fritz’s Railroad Restaurant and visited IKEA after church this past Sunday.
Tea or coffee was enjoyed by Keith and I in the afternoons while the kids had quiet time.
Jenny made a fairy garden.
We had a family game night, playing Disney’s Pictopia.
There was a light saber battle between father and son.
And there were many Nerf gun wars.
I think we’re all well rested and energized to complete this year of separation and move on to spending lots more time together doing these very things!
Here’s to praying that the next four months go by quickly.
