Yesterday, as you may of may not know, was “Star Wars Day”.
Why Star Wars Day?
Well…it was May the Fourth as in “May the Fourth (force) Be With You”.
This was a day that my youngest son has been looking forward to almost as much as his own birthday, so I wanted to help him celebrate.
He brought Yoda downstairs with him when he woke up and greeted me with a warm, “Happy Star Wars Day!”.
He spent his morning playing with his Star Wars toys in his room and then I invited one of his best friends to come over and watch a Star Wars movie with him.
Yes, I gave Will the day off of school for his special holiday. After all, he said it best…”it just doesn’t feel very special if I have to do school“.
I made cupcakes with Yoda toppers for him to have as a snack, which we took with us to the park after his movie ended.
My husband came home from work bearing gifts for our little guy to wrap up his celebrations. He received two new packs of Star Wars cards to add to his huge collection and the movie of Star War Rebels which airs on Disney.
I love creating special days for my children. I also think it’s important to support them in their interests.
Star Wars is definitely one of Will’s interests. He’s become quite the expert and I can even thank this interest to help Will in his learning to read and gaining fluency in his reading.
Keith took this picture of Cupcake last night. It seems that even our cat got in on the festivities of Star Wars Day this year!
