I’ve been wanting to make our afternoon snack time a bit healthier.
You know, more fruits and veggies and less cookies and sweets.
So, I stocked up on fruits, veggies, and cheese at the commissary this week. After nap time, I cut up and arranged apples, grapes, baby carrots, green peppers, cherry tomatoes, and cheese on a large plate, making a fruit and veggie tray. I sat it out on the coffee table and the kids were free to nibble as they pleased. Some dressing for dipping is also a good addition to this.
EA and Will loved the idea, but MC was quite hesitant at first. In fact, that’s why she’s not pictured with her brother and sister here. She was protesting her Mommy’s idea of healthy snacks. But, she did come around and enjoy it before EA and Will cleaned the plate!
This was so easy to do and I felt good about the foods I was feeding my children! It was fun too….a little like a small afternoon party.

Chase is allergic to milk protein, so fruits and veggies are all she can have as snack. More cookies for me! I love the new look, btw. Great job!

It’s all about the presentation, isn’t it? Looks yummy to me!

I try to have healthy snacks for our children as well – varieties of fruits/veggies with or without dip, crackers w/cheese or peanut butter, etc.
