You may have noticed a bit of a change here over the last several weeks.
More and more, my focus is turning to sharing my scrapbook pages and my love for scrapbooking with you here on this blog.
Several weeks ago, when I was having such a hard time blogging, I decided that I needed to focus on what truly brings me joy. Scrapbooking does that!
I believe that my scrapbooking and blogging can really go hand in hand. I often look back on past posts here to find ideas for scrapbook pages. And I absolutely love sharing my creations and my love for this craft with you here on this blog.
I scrapped this layout this morning, when I was pondering to myself the question, “Why do I scrapbook?” and “Why is this important to me?”
Here are some of the reasons I journaled in this layout…
I scrapbook to see the joy and blessings in every day.
I scrapbook because I am a memory collector.
I store up the treasures of yesterday and today in my heart.
I scrapbook because I desire to dwell on things in this life that are true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent and praiseworthy.
I scrapbook to document the big and little.
I scrapbook to cherish the seemingly mundane.
I never want to forget the moments that make up our lives.
So…I scrapbook to remember.
I absolutely love the quote included in the main kit I used to scrap this layout.
Life is the sharing of songs and silences and the holding of memories only the heart can see.
Isn’t that beautiful and so true?
I also believe that scrapbooking encourages me in my faith.
My purpose here and my challenge to myself each day is to live out the words on Philippians 4:8, to dwell on those things that are true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent and praiseworthy. These words have served as the foundation of my blogging since I began seven years ago. Scrapbooking really does help me to dwell on these things.
Also, there are many passages in the Bible where God calls His people to remembrance.
We are to remember what He has done for us.
We are to remember where we have come from and where we are going in our walk of faith.
We are to remember His works and miracles in our lives.
We are to remember the ways that He has blessed us.
Scrapbooking helps me to purposefully remember.
Scrapbooking isn’t a frivolous thing for me. It’s important to me personally and it’s important to my family and my children.
After we told our children about their grandfather’s passing on Sunday morning I walked downstairs to see my oldest girl sitting on the couch looking through pages in one of my scrapbooks. She was looking for pictures of her Grandpa. It is pictures and scrapbooks that can help us through our time of sadness and loss.
I will continue to share our lives here on this blog. It is a personal blog and it serves as a connection for our family living a great distance away from us.
I will also continue to share my faith and whatever else I am led to share.
But scrapbooking is a focus here and you will continue to see more and more of it.
Because it is the thing that brings me joy!
I look forward to sharing my creations and projects with you and I thank you so much for taking the time to visit and comment!
