We all have quirks, oddities and just plain ol’ strangeness in us that may make people, even people that know us stop and say, “No way!”.
One thing that blogging has taught me is to be content with myself and revealing who I am…who I really am. And not being ashamed of that.
I have learned to be totally honest with myself and others through sharing parts of my life.
Some of mine are….
I don’t like to eat off of paper plates
I don’t like drinking out of soda cans
I have a secret afinity for daytime soaps (CBS only, though)
And, really, I’m just a redneck at heart, because I enjoy wrestling
Not the kind with rules and regulations that high-schoolers play. No, not that. I’m talkig about pro-wrestling with costumes and acts and chair throwing, and all kinds of silliness.
I grew up watching WWE and WWF wrestling on Saturday mornings after a morning of cartoons. Some of my fondest memories are of watching this with my Daddy before lunch on Saturdays.
Am I the only person that can seriously refer to watching professional wrestling as a “fond” memory?? That’s a little scary.
One of my most memorable birthdays was my 13th when my uncle took me to the Myrtle Beach Convention Center to watch live wrestling. I saw my favorites…Sting and the Rock N’ Roll Express demolish their opponents.
So, when Keith and I were flipping through our five AFN channels before going to bed on Sunday night and I saw that the 25th Annual Wrestlemania Television Special was on, I just had to stay up past my bedtime and watch.
My sweet husband stayed up with me.
It was such a fun hour of reliving memories from the past, of laughing at the antics of the wrestling stars, and of spending time with my husband.
I don’t watch this on a weekly basis anymore, but it was fun to have a moment of reminiscing good times and reveling in my inner redneck.

LOL! My husband loves to watch wrestling now and then… which so does not fit with the rest of his “persona” – I find it hillarious.
Glad you got to relive the memories!!
And I agree – there is something you have to learn about being ok with who you really are when you blog! 🙂

This is hilarious! I never would have imagined. And by the way, I don’t like eating off paper plates either…

Too funny!! I grew up with WWF, too. Macho Man Randi Savage … He was always my favorite. Wasn’t he the one who always did booby twitches during his trash talks? LOL. Oh, wow. It’s been a lo-o-o-ong time …

I would have NEVER guessed that about you – NEVER, EVER – the wrestling part I mean. The other stuff about paper plates & soda cans, well that just seems to me to go along how you like to have your hair done & makeup on, where as I – well lets just say there are days my hair doesn’t get brushed. =)

I married a redneck– so I have learned. He still watches at least part of a wrestling show at least once a week (it’s on about every night here in the US!). Last night I said to him– “Isn’t that move (the “RKO” by Randy Ortin) the same as the Stone Cold Stunner and Dimaond Dallas Paige’s “Diamond Cutter”?? ” He looked at me surprised, and IMPRESSED. 9 yrs of watching “wrastling” has taught me to be a good redneck too. 🙂

Too funny! I just shared that w/ James and now we’re both laughing. James likes to watch it too. You’re right, it’s kinda good memories!
