This verse from Proverbs 12:25 has been on my heart lately.
I read it again this morning and knew it was for me.
I’ve been anxious about many things lately.
While I’m so excited, I have been anxious about my trip to Blissdom this weekend.
I’m anxious about not fitting in, not clicking with anyone, being left out, and not being accepted.
Along with anxiety about the actual trip, I’ve also been anxious getting ready for it.
There is so much to do!!
I’ve been shopping, cooking, cleaning, making lists, packing…it just seems that there’s no way to get it all done!
I’ve been anxious about homeschool.
I’ve been anxious about parenting and the daily mistakes I make in that…the most important job I’ll ever have.
I’ve been anxious about our upcoming move…where will we live? will I find friends? will we be prepared this time?…and so many other questions are swirling around my mind.
This anxiety in my heart has been weighing me down.
It makes me unpleasant and stressed.
I’m so thankful that God has a better plan for my life than living in this state of anxiety.
The words in Proverbs are true, “a good word makes him her glad”.
Good words do make me glad.
Words are an encouragement.
They lift me up when I am down.
They make me glad and lift my spirits.
These good words can come from all kinds of places…from friends, from songs, from blog posts, news articles, facebook messages, and the list can go on and on.
The good word that ultimately makes me more glad than the words from those is His Good Word.
He has given us so many words in the Bible…words to encourage, words to make glad, words to spur on to more, and words to chase away the anxiety that weighs us down.
It is my desire to go to His Word first when the anxiety comes.
I want to seek Him through His Words before the words of my friends.
His Good Words are the words I want to fill my mind.
His Good Words are the ones I desire to dwell on each day.
