For a while my husband has been planning to take Will, our little boy, fishing. He found the perfect spot at the nearby Pocahontas State park.
On Saturday afternoon he got everything ready and they started out on their fishing trip.
On the way to the park, Will told his daddy that he wanted to be a fisherman when he grew up.
Keith had to teach him how to throw the rod out into the water
and how to reel it back in.
While Will was practicing reeling his rod back in, my husband became a little distracted…until he heard the line pulling. There was a fish on it!!!
He helped Will reel it in as the fish pulled against him.
And when it was completely pulled out of the water…
Will took off running!!!
He was adamant that the fish should immediately go back into the water, “put it back! put it back!”.
He was scared of the dangling, flopping fish!
Keith tried his best to get a picture of Will with his fish, but Will was having none of that!
This was the best that he could do.
Finally, the fish was thrown back into the water where he came from.
On their way home, Will announced that he was a real fisherman.
And it would seem that he is, except I’m not sure that they’re scared of the fish they catch! 🙂

That is too cute!! My daughter had a similar reaction when she followed her Papa to the lake to go fishing. But when the fish came out of the water, she took off running! Funny kids!
