This is the newest layout I created using Bright Ideas elements and papers from Paislee Press.
I absolutely LOVE how this page turned out, but more than that I love the story behind it. You see, I don’t only scrap the perfect moments of life. I think it’s important to document our mess-ups and learn lessons from them as well.
For my twins’ 11th birthday they requested a Chocolate Rolo Cake we found on Pinterest. I was excited to make this homemade cake and frosting for their birthday celebration.
Well, this turned out to be the biggest Pinterest fail ever! From start to finish this cake was doomed from the layers falling apart to the frosting being way to stiff to spread.
I finally had to give up and call this a fail. On the afternoon of their birthday the girls and I got into the fan and drove to the Commissary to pick out a cake from the bakery there.
My girls were so sweet and they happily accompanied me to pick out another cake.
At the end of the day, they had a delicious cake to celebrate their birthday.
That’s all that really mattered to them.
They were all smiles when they blew out the candles on the bakery cake that took less than ten minutes to buy.
They didn’t mind that it wasn’t Pinterest perfect at all.
I need to remember that when I build my expectations so unreasonably high.
I need to remember that my children don’t expect perfection, especially not Pinterest perfection.
