I feel like I just did a very random post on Monday, so today in lieu of my 5 on Friday post, I thought it would be fun to recap the books I read in 2016.
I started out 2016 with a goal to read more “real” books. I mean real as in not ebooks on my Kindle. I love my Kindle, but I was desiring the feeling of turning pages and holding a physical book in my hands. Joining Book of the Month Club really helped with this goal!
I also had a Good Reads Challenge goal of reading 36 books in 2016. I had to adjust that after reading more physical books, because I tend to read them slower than I do books on my Kindle. I ended up reading 24 books and I’m completely happy with that.
Here are the books that I read this year:
Own Your Life: Living with Deep Intention, Bold Faith and Generous Love by Sally Clarkson
Simply Tuesday: Small-Moment Living in a Fast-Moving World by Emily P. Freeman
Teaching from Rest: A Homeschooler’s Guide to Unshakable Peace by Sarah Mackenzie
Everything We Keep by Kerry Lonsdale
About the Night by Anat Talshir
Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet by Jamie Ford
The Kitchen House by Kathleen Grissom
The Secret Keeper by Kate Morton
The Paris Wife by Paula McLain
The Last Anniversary by Liane Moriarty
The Lake House by Kate Morton
My Name is Lucy Barton by Elizabeth Strout
The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah
The Wonder by Emma Donoghue
Before the Fall by Noah Hawley
I Let You Go by Clare Mackintosh
Pull Me Under by Kelly Luce
Swing Time by Zadie Smith
Behold the Dreamers by Imbolo Mbue
The Girls by Emma Cline
Eligible: A Modern Retelling of Pride and Prejudice by Curtis Sittenfeld
The Sun is Also a Star by Nicola Yoon
Circling the Sun by Paula McLain
Good as Gone by Amy Gentry
My top three pics from the books I read this year are:
The Kitchen House by Kathleen Grissom
The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah
I Let You Go by Clare Mackintosh
And my least favorite is definitely:
The Girls by Emma Cline (blech!)
My one goal for next year is to read a bit more non-fiction. I have a growing list of non-fiction books that I want to read and a couple that I’m working my way through right now. I’m not exactly sure how I’m going to meet this goal because I enjoy reading fiction so much more!
Did you meet your reading goals for 2016? What are your reading goals for the coming year?

What a great list of books. Some I have on my shelf. I hope to read more this year. Matter of fact, I hardly read at all in 2016. Blessings for a beautiful and fulfilling New Year!

I read 179 books this year. Mostly kindle fiction, but a few hard covers. Next year I want to set a goal of 200 books and include a few more hardcover and a few biographies. Hope everyone has a blessed and prosperous New Year.
