Chalk the Block is an annual event that is held in downtown El Paso. This is one event that my family and I look forward to attending!! We went the second year that we lived here and love it so much!! We’ve been anticipating this year’s event for weeks and had a blast at it on Saturday.
We actually had rain here in El Paso all day on Friday, which is very unusual, so I was worried about being able to enjoy Chalk the Block. Thankfully, Saturday was a beautiful day once the rain dried up and I had no reason to worry. I do love seeing the clouds sitting on the mountains in the morning after having rain.
The see-saws were a new addition to Chalk the Block this year. As soon as I saw them, I knew I would love it!! I rode first with EA and MC and then Keith and Will joined in on the run. There was even a see-saw that seated four people, two on each side, so we could all get on together! Jenny wanted absolutely nothing to do with them. I honestly could have played on these all day.
We went in search of coffee from Coffee Box, one of my favorite coffee places in downtown El Paso! It’s actually in a box car…super fun and so cool! We also walked through the Farmer’s Market area as we drank our coffee.
My kids LOVE sidewalk chalk and there was an area where they were all able to load up with chalk and draw away! The whole street was full of other people doing the same thing! I love experiencing the joy of a creative community like this!
Our last stop was to visit the new to open El Paso streetcar. We loved riding the streetcar when visiting downtown Kansas City and have been eagerly anticipating El Paso getting its own streetcar. It has a very vintage look that I just adore! It’s not open for rides yet, but we were able to get on and take a look around.
On our way back to our car, we spotted a sculpture made from huge pieces of chalk and thought it would make a great spot for a photo!
It is my aim to soak up all the beauty and fun that El Paso has to offer so I can take lots of memories with me when we head to our next destination!
