I went to bed late….very late….on Christmas Eve so that everything was all ready for the girls and Will on Christmas morning.
And I woke up early….very early….so I could be ready for the day to come!
I was all dressed and ready for them to wake up.
Wouldn’t you know that on the one day I wanted them to be up early and ready to go…they slept in.
And by sleeping in, I mean that they didn’t get up until 6:30!
EA was up first to go potty. I think she must have completely forgotten that it was Christmas. She didn’t mention anything at all…just went stright to the bathroom. So, while she was “going” I said, “EA, guess what??? Santa came last night!”.
Her response…..
“Why??”
I ever so patiently explained that it was Christmas and there were presents waiting on her in the living room.
MC heard me talking to EA and raced into the living room to check out the gifts!
EA came in while MC was looking at everything and wanted to know where her monkeys were!
The only thing she asked for this year was a Barrel of Monkeys and a baby.
I had to show her that she did indeed have a Barrel of Monkeys in her stocking. She was thrilled that they were blue!
MC’s favorite gift this year was a Fisher Price digital camera. She immediately wanted me to open it up for her so she could get started taking pictures.
I was happy to do so.
Until I discovered that it took AAA batteries. I make sure I was stocked up on batteries before our big day….AA batteries.
I did forage around the house and find enough batteries from taking them out of remotes. But they didn’t have enough power in them to last very long.
We went out this morning and got a package of eight AAA batteries for her. And by the end of the day, she has used up all eight of those.
I am planning to invest in some rechargeable batteries to support MC’s new hobby. The battery expense could do us in.
She is a pretty good little photographer. Here are some unedited pictures she took today.
All Will wanted to do yesterday was play with the boxes, gift bags, and wrapping paper.
He had a blast playing with those things, though!
My friend, Carol, spent the morning and evening with us. I am so thankful that she is a part of our family here and gave her time to help me. It was just a little overwhelming to do it all by myself….setting everything up, cooking, opening presents with the kids, taking pictures, and cleaning up. Carol was wonderful to come over. She took most of the pictures and I’m even in them!! She also helped me to keep everything pretty organized and cleaned up as we went! I am so thankful to have friends to share the holidays with!!
I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas with your family and friends as well!

Cute! Thanks for sharing. It is a big job to do by yourself-I’m glad that you had help. Isn’t that typical that you are up early on a day that kids sleep in….6:30 is still early though 🙂

I do not know how you do it!! You are truly an inspiration. I struggle with two kids and Craig is here to help me. But Santa is my thing…I love setting out Santa. I am glad he was good to the children and you all had a wonderful holiday.
