Upon Will’s insistence, we read our devotions before breakfast this morning. In fact, it was the very first thing we did as a family and it was actually very nice. Will and the girls sat on the floor as I sat in the recliner and we read and discussed our devotion for today.
I’m using the One Year Devotions for Preschoolers with them and I very highly recommend it. Each day there is a short, applicable devotion along with a bible verse and a prayer.
We usually do this right after breakfast.
But not today.
No, today Will was very emphatic about reading it first.
As soon as he woke up and walked into the living room, he began saying “Book!” “Book!” And went over to the bookshelf to get our devotional book. He had to work very hard to pull it down from the shelf and bring it to me.
What kind of mommy would I have been do deny this request??
Probably not a very good one.
I’m not sure why he was so adament about today’s devotion. Maybe because it was all about enjoying life and having fun.
And Will knows all about enjoying life and having fun.
He may have to teach his sister, EA, a little thing or two about that.
As we were reading today’s lesson, it posed the question, “What is your favorite thing to do?”
This was asked right after the question, “Do you like to run and jump and play?” So, naturally, I was expecting some really good answers from the girls.
Answers like…
play games
or draw
or sing
or dance
or any number of activities that are actually a lot of fun for a three year old to do.
But EA had an answer ready that was not what I was expecting at all.
To the question, “What is your favorite thing to do?”, my EA answered “ummm….Eat vegetables.”
If a person lives to be very old, let him rejoice in every day of life.”
Ecclesiastes 11:8
We rejoice in every day of life around here….even in eating vegetables!

I LOVED this post Monica… so sweet that Will was so hungry for God’s word and absolutely adorable that EA’s response was “eating vegetables” just two more reasons why you are a super star mommy!! Keep it up and thanks for sharing the great anecdotes!
